The SmartThings Hub lets you connect wirelessly to a wide range of smart devices.
This guide will help you setup and connect your SmartThings Hub.
2. SmartThings: Install iOS App
From the main screen, open the App Store.
At the bottom of the screen, tap on Search.
Type SmartThings on the search bar at the top.
Tap Search to start the search.

Tap the App to see its download options.
Next, tap the GET button.
Tap OPEN once the app is installed.
3. SmartThings Hub: Create a Samsung Account
Open the SmartThings app.
Tap New to SmartThings.
Tap Create account.
Tap Agree for the Samsung Terms and Conditions, Terms of Services, and Samsung Privacy Policy.
Enter your email address.
Enter your password (at least eight characters containing at least one number and one letter).
Confirm your password.
Enter your first and last name.
Enter your ZIP code and date of birth.
Tap Next.
Tap Done.
Select your country.
Tap Continue.
4. SmartThings Hub: Connect your Hub
The unique 6-character Welcome Code for the Samsung SmartThings Hub (Hub v2) is packaged with the Hub and located on a card under the Hub's tray in the box.
Enter the Welcome Code for your Hub.
Tap Next.
Connect the Hub using the included power and network cables.
Wait while the Hub downloads any available firmware upgrades. Do not unplug the Hub during the setup process. Wait for the Hub to show solid green LEDs.
When the Hub shows solid green LEDs, tap Continue.
5. SmartThings Hub: Create a Location
Tap Grant Location Permission.
Tap Allow to give the SmartThings app permission to know your mobile device’s GPS coordinates. (By doing so, SmartThings can trigger different actions to happen automatically when you enter and leave your customized Location).
Tap to give your location a name (defaults to “Homeâ€).
Tap This is My Location to confirm your physical location.
If needed, tap Change Location.
Long press the pin in a new spot on the map, or tap and hold the pin to drag it.
Tap and drag the dot to change the size of the geofence surrounding your home.
Tap Save.
Wait for the success message that your Hub has been activated.
Tap OK.
Your Hub is now connected and up and running, and you’re ready to connect your Things.
6. SmartThings Hub: Connect Your Things
Read the in-app instructions and when finished, tap OK, got it.
The app will display the Things page.
Tap Add a Thing.
The app will say Looking for devices…
While the Hub searches, perform the connection/inclusion process specific to that device.
Consult the device's manual for instructions.
When the device is discovered, it will be listed at the top of the screen.
Tap the device to rename it and tap Done.
When finished, tap Save.
Tap Ok to confirm.
You’re all done! Enjoy your new smart home.
7. Smartthings: Install Android App
Launch the Play Store.
Search for SmartThings using the search box located at the top
Touch the magnifying glass on the on-screen keyboard to search.
On the app's install page, touch INSTALL.
Review the install prompt that pops up. Once done, touch ACCEPT.
Wait for the download to finish. Once done, touch OPEN to launch the app or go back to your apps to access the new app's icon.
