Cox Homelife - Install and Pair Smart Bulb with Touchscreen/COX Mobile App

1. Introduction

In This Guide

You'll Learn How To:-

  • Install and Pair the Cox Homelife Smart Bulb with the Touchscreen Device

Before We Begin:-

  • Ask the customer to keep the Cox Homelife Smart Bulb handy
  • Customer must have the Touchscreen Device handy

 

 

2. Install and Pair the Smart Bulb

Install Smart Bulb 

Follow the instructions below to guide the customer to install the Smart bulb: 

1. Ensure that the power is OFF on the lamp or light fixture the customer is installing their bulb on


Light Switch Off

If the customer is installing the bulb to a lamp that is connected to an outlet without a switch, instruct the customer to unplug the lamp before removing the bulb.

2. Instruct the customer to unscrew and remove any existing light bulb from the socket of the lamp or light fixture

3. Ask the customer to replace it with COX Homelife Smart light bulb into the socket of the lamp or light fixture

4. Ask the customer to power ON the lamp or light fixture they are working with


Light Switch On

 5. The light bulb will begin to pulse, indicating it is ready to pair with the customer's Homelife system. The customer will have 3 minutes to complete the pairing process.

If the bulb does not pulse immediately, or if it has timed out, the customer can reset it by quickly turning the bulb off and on 10 times. The bulb will blink five times, indicating it is ready to pair. 

 

 

Pair the Smart Bulb

 Select the device and assist the customer to pair the Smart bulb

Touchscreen

1. From the home screen, ask the customer to tap the Settings icon

 

 

2. Ask the customer to enter the Master code to proceed to the Security Settings menu

 

If the customer does not remember the Master Code, you can reset it using the management tool.

 

3. From the Settings menu, ask the customer to select Home Devices > Lighting > Add Lights

4. The Locating Lighting Devices screen will appear. Then ask the customer to press Next to begin the pairing process. Once the Smart Bulb is found by the Touchscreen, the light will become solid

Do not press Done during the pairing process 

5. When the “Dimmable Light” icon appears, pairing is complete. Then ask the customer to select Done. Then press Next to configure the Smart Bulb.


Configure the Smart Bulb

Follow the instructions below to configure the smart bulb

1. On the Configure Lighting Devices screen, ask the customer to select “Dimmable Light” icon to configure it

2. Once the customer taps on the ‘Dimmable Light Name’ field it will display a keyboard to rename their Smart Bulb or light fixture (example: Living Room Lamp). Then select Done to close the keyboard

3. On the ‘Dimmable’ field ask the customer to select Yes to allow the bulb’s brightness to be controlled by the Homelife system

4. Ask the customer to press Next to complete configuration and then press the Touchscreen’s home button to return to the home screen.

The installation and pairing process is now complete

The customer can now control their Smart LED Light Bulb using the Lights app on their Touchscreen, Homelife mobile app or online Subscriber Portal.

IMPORTANT: The light switch for their light fixture must remain in the ON position in order to control the bulb remotely 

  

Cox Homelife App

If the customer does not have the Cox Homelife app installed on their smart phone, assist them by following the instructions below to install the app:

 

Android

Android Phone or Tablet

  1. Instruct the customer to launch the Play Store on the mobile device
Google Play Store.
  1. Tap in the search box at the top of the screen

  1. Search for "Cox Homelife" and tap on the found app

  2. Tap Install to install the app
  1. Once the app is installed open the app and proceed to sign in



Apple

iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch

  1. Instruct the customer to launch the App Store on the mobile device

  1. Tap Search in the bottom right corner

  1.  Search for "Cox Homelife" and tap on the found app
  2.  
  3. Tap GET to install the app


  1. Once the app is open the app and proceed to sign in


  • Ask the customer to Sign in to their Cox Homelife mobile app
  • On the Overview screen, tap the More tab
  • On the More screen, tap Manage Devices
  • On the Manage Devices screen, tap Add Devices




  • On the Add Devices screen, ask the customer to tap the Lights icon
  • Follow the instructions on screen to install and then pair the customer's smart LED light bulb

Pairing

Ask the customer to pair the smart LED light bulb with their Homelife hub, screw the bulb into any standard light socket (medium, type E26)

  1. Turn on the light.
  2. When the light begins pulsing, it is in pairing mode
  3. Your Cox Homelife mobile app completes the rest of the pairing
  4. Your paired light bulb displays on the Manage Device screen
  5. Tap EDIT to customize the device name (for example, Living Room Lamp).

Using the Mobile App

  1. On the Overview screen, the customer can quickly adjust the brightness of your dimmable lights using the slider



  1. The customer can also tap the Lights tile to control all their connected lights and smart plugs
  2. Ask the customer to tap on the selected light bulb to turn lights ON or OFF, or select ALL ON or ALL OFF options
  3. For dimmable lights, customer can also use the slider to adjust the brightness.
