How to Connect ecobee Thermostat to Google Assistant

1. Introduction

You'll Learn How To:

• Link your ecobee device with Google Assistant.

You'll Need:

• Your ecobee account
• Your ecobee device to be already installed and set up within the ecobee account
• A mobile device running one of the following apps:
• Google Home
  

• Google Assistant
  

2. Link ecobee Device

1. Launch the Google Home app.
   

1. Tap Add on the main screen.
   

1. On the Add and manage screen, tap Set up device.
   

1. Under Works with Google, tap Have something already set up?.
   

1. Scroll through the list of smart home device providers and look for ecobee. Since the list is rather long you can also tap Search and enter the name to locate it quicker.
   

1. Select ecobee.
   

1. Sign in with your ecobee account and allow Google Assistant to control your ecobee devices using your voice.
   

1. You can now give voice commands to Google Assistant to control your linked device.

3. OS Choice

To continue, we need to know what Operating System your smartphone or tablet has.

There are 2 main Operating Systems for smartphones currently available, Android and iOS.

4. Link ecobee Device

1. Tap and hold the Home icon, which is the circle at the bottom of the screen, to launch Google Assistant.
   

1. Then tap the Explore icon which looks like a compass.
   

1. Tap More (1) in the top right corner and select Settings (2).
   

1. Go to the Assistant (1) tab and select Home Control (2).
   

1. Tap Add at the bottom right.
   

1. Scroll through the list of smart home device providers and look for ecobee. Since the list is rather long you can also tap Search and enter the name to locate it quicker.
   

1. Select ecobee.
   

1. Sign in with your ecobee account and allow Google Assistant to control your ecobee devices using your voice.
   

1. You can now give voice commands to Google Assistant to control your linked device.

7. Install App

1. Launch the App Store.
   

1. Tap Search in the bottom right corner.
   

1. Type "google assistant" in the search bar at the top. The app will show up below.

3. Once opened, tap on Sign In then fill out your Google account information.
