How to Connect Harman JBL Bar 5.1 with the Home Network

1. Introduction

THIS GUIDE WILL HELP CONNECT THE HERMAN JBL BAR 5.1 WITH THE HOME NETWORK

The JBL Bar 5.1 transforms from a soundbar into a true wireless 5.1 home theater system for an epic movie and music-listening experience. The soundbar features two detachable battery-powered wireless surround speakers with up to 10 hours of playtime, 510W of total system power, a 250mm wireless subwoofer, and three HDMI inputs to connect 4K devices, and Bluetooth.

2. Connect to Home Network

How to Connect with Home Network

Through Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable, connect the soundbar to the home network. With Chromecast built-in and AirPlay supported, the soundbar allows the user to stream audio on smartphones or tablets through the soundbar speakers.

  1. On the soundbar, enter the Wi-Fi setup mode:

    • Press the power button to switch it ON
    → If the soundbar has not been connected to a network, the screen shows â€œHELLO” and then, â€œSETUP WIFI”.

    • To re-enter the Wi-Fi setup mode, press and hold the power button until â€œRESET WIFI” is displayed.

  2. On the Android or iOS device, add the soundbar to your home Wi-Fi network.

Add Through Google Home APP

  1. Connect the Android or iOS device to your home Wi-Fi network. Download the Google Home app. Sign in with the Google account. If you do not have one, create a new one.

  2. Follow the app instructions to complete the setup.

Add Through AirPlay Setup on an iOS Device

  1. Connect the iOS device to the preferred home Wi-Fi network

  2. On the iOS device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi. Under SET UP NEW AIRPLAY SPEAKER…, select "JBL Bar5.1_xxx" and follow onscreen instructions to complete setup.
           

  1. If necessary, use an Ethernet cable to connect the soundbar to the home network.

    • Make sure that the user connects to the same network as they did during the setup.
      
  • During the Wi-Fi setup through the Google Home app, users can name the soundbar and organize it by room.

  • On the iOS device, add the soundbar to the Apple Home app and manage it together with other AirPlay 2-compatible speakers.

  • On the iOS device, if the soundbar has been added to the home Wi-Fi network through the Google Home app, skip the steps under “Through AirPlay setup on an iOS device” and the users can start AirPlay streaming from an AirPlay-compatible app
