In this guide, you will learn how to find backup files after a full restore done by Carbonite on a local Windows Computer.
Follow the steps below to find the restored files, after the customer has had a full restore from carbonite.
A shortcut to the restore report will appear on the Desktop after a restore completes or is stopped, but you can access the Carbonite Restore Reports folder within the Documents folder.
1. Open File Explorer
2. Open This PC
3. Open Drive C
4. Open the Users Folder
5. Ask the Customer and open the User folder on which carbonite has restored files, or if the customer does not know which User it's Restored on check all the Users Name folders
6. In the list of folders select the Carbonite Old User Settings folder and open it, which might have a few subfolders open till you see a list of folders eg, Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Pictures, Music, etc and ask the customer whether we have found the backup from old PC or reinstalled or restored Windows OS from Carbonite Cloud Backup (safe)
7. Ask the Customer and Move the desired Data/files, Documents, pictures, etc from each folder to their default folders on the customer's PC.
Ask the Customer to contact Carbonite and they shall do the full Restore, once it is all downloaded ask the customer to call us we shall help them with moving files/folders to the respective places or into Applications
