1. Introduction

• Resolve basic problems with the Amazon Alexa services on your Ecobee Switch+.

Before We Begin:

• Be near your Ecobee Switch+.
• Have the Ecobee App installed on your smartphone or tablet.

2. Check Amazon Alexa Registration

In order to use your Ecobee Switch+ to access Amazon Alexa services, it must be registered and linked to your Amazon Alexa account.

1. Open the Ecobee app.
   

1. Select Switches.
   

1. Select your Switch+ from the list.
   

1. Look in the bottom-right corner at the microphone icon.
2. Alexa Enabled

1. The Alexa service is enabled, listening, and working properly.
2. Alexa Disabled

1. The Alexa service is not enabled.

3. Reboot

1. Push and hold the main button on your Ecobee Switch+.
   

1. Continue to hold the main switch for five seconds.
   

1. Wait for the voice prompt to say "Restart Device".
2. Press the main button one time.
3. Your Ecobee Switch+ will restart, and should be ready to use again in a few minutes.

4. Test Commands

Try using your Alexa-enabled device. Say "Alexa," followed by a command.

Some simple commands you can test with:

• "Alexa, what's the weather like?"
• "Alexa, how tall is the Empire State Building?"
• "Alexa, how far away is the moon?"

5. Factory Reset Check

The next step is to factory reset your Ecobee Switch+, then set the device up from the beginning again.

1. Press and hold the main button on your Ecobee Switch+ for 5 seconds.
   

1. Wait for the voice prompt to say "Reset to factory settings".
2. Press the main button again.

9. Enable Alexa

1. Open the Ecobee app.
   

1. Select Switches.
   

1. Select your Switch+ from the list.
   

1. Select the microphone with a slash in the bottom right corner.
   

1. Select Sign in with Amazon.
   

1. Enter your Amazon Email, Amazon Password, then select Sign In.

1. Open the Ecobee app.
   

1. Sign in, or create your account.
2. To Create a New Account
3. Select Create a New Account.
   

1. Enter your Name, Email Address, and select a password and confirm it by entering it twice. Read the Terms & Conditions carefully, then confirm you accept them by placing a check mark in the box. Finally, select Create Account.
   

1. To Sign in with an Existing Account
2. Fill in your Email address, and your Ecobee password. Then select Sign In.
   

1. Select Register Your Device.
   

1. Select ecobee Switch.
   

1. You will be reminded to verify the Switch+ is glowing amber. Select Get Started.
   

1. In order to setup your Ecobee Switch+ properly, the app will need location access. Select Allow Location Access.
   

1. Select Allow or OK to authorize ecobee to use the device's location.
   

1. The App will scan for your ecobee Switch+.
   

1. Your ecobee Switch+ will appear in the list. Select your switch and tap Add to add your device to the app.
2. Follow any additional instructions that may appear on-screen to complete device registration.
