How to Fix Amazon Fire TV Remote App Pairing Issues

Check Network Connection:

If you're having trouble pairing the Fire TV Remote App with your Fire TV, this guide offers some solutions that may help.
2. Introduction
Anyone who uses a device that connects to the internet may encounter a situation where their device becomes disconnected or experiences an issue related to that connection. Checking the status of your network connection is a common practice that can help:
Determine what Wi-Fi connection you are currently using.
Determine what your device's current connection status is.
Make sure that your device is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
Make sure all of your devices are connected to the same network in order to be able to communicate with one another.
3. Connect Network
Push the Home button on your remote.
Select Settings.
Select Network.
Select your network name.
Enter your password, then select Connect.
4. Android or iOS
For the next steps, we need to determine what type of mobile device you have.
5. Connect to Wi-Fi
Depending on which generation of Fire Tablet (Kindle Fire) you have, the menu theme and options might look slightly different on your screen. Choose the type of device you have and expand the instructions below.
On Fire Tablet 4th Gen (2014) and later
Swipe downwards from the top side of the screen.
Look for the Wi-Fi symbol in the drop down menu and tap on it.
Make sure the Wi-Fi feature is enabled by flipping the On / Off switch to the orange position then wait for the network list to populate and tap on the Wi-Fi network that you want to connect to.
If asked, type in the Wi-Fi password using the on-screen keyboard then tap on Connect.
Once connected, the Wi-Fi symbol to the left of the networks name will turn orange and it will read Connected below it. You will also see the Wi-Fi symbol show up in the top right corner of the screen.
On Kindle Fire 3rd Gen (2013) and earlier
Tap the Quick Settings icon in the top right corner of the screen.
Select Wi-Fi.
Make sure Wireless Networking is turned On.
Choose a Network from the list.
Enter the Password if required then tap Connect.
6. Force Stop App and Clear Data
Swipe down from the top of the screen.
Tap Settings.
Tap Applications.
Tap Installed Applications.
Select the app that you want to stop.
Tap Force stop.
Tap OK to confirm.
Tap Clear Data.
Tap OK to confirm.
7. Stop Display Mirroring
Swipe downwards from the top edge of your Fire Tablet's screen.
Tap Stop Mirroring below the quick menu.
8. Restart
Press and hold the Power button for 40 seconds or until the device restarts automatically.
If your device does not automatically restart after 40 seconds, press the Power button to turn it on.
9. Restart
Restarting your Fire TV depends on the type of device you have:
For a Fire TV Set-Top Box or Stick you can do the following:
Press and hold the Select and Play/Pause buttons at the same time for about five seconds.
Or, From the main screen of your Fire TV, go to Settings.
Then go to Device.
And choose Restart. Confirm your decision by selecting Restart.
Alternatively, you can unplug the power cord from the device, wait 10 seconds and then plug it back in.
For a Fire TV Edition Smart TV you can do the following:
Press the Power button on the remote, wait for 10 seconds and then press it again.
Alternatively, you can unplug the power cord from the outlet, wait 10 seconds and then plug it back in.
10. Unpair Bluetooth Device
Fire TV can have up to seven Bluetooth accessories and remotes actively connected at any time. If all slots are taken and you can't pair new devices or you are no longer using any of them, you can always unpair them from the Fire TV.
From the main screen of your Fire TV, go to Settings.
Then go to Controllers & Bluetooth Devices.
Pick a category from which you want to unpair a device.
Then select the device you wish to unpair.
Press the Menu button on the remote to unpair a selected device, then select OK to disconnect it.
Your device should be unpaired. You can repeat this process for any other paired devices
12. Connect Wi-Fi
Depending on what device (Smartphone or Tablet) and which generation you have, the menu theme and options might look slightly different on your screen. However, the steps should be similar across all Android devices and generations.
From the main screen of your Android device, tap on the Apps button.
Then look for and tap on Settings.
Go to Wi-Fi.
Make sure the Wi-Fi feature is enabled by flipping the On / Off switch to the On position then wait for the network list to populate and tap on the Wi-Fi network that you want to connect to.
Your Android device will automatically connect to the network if there is no security enabled, or you have connected to it in the past. The Wi-Fi network name will show Connected underneath and the Wi-Fi symbol will fill up in the top right corner of the screen.
If the Wi-Fi network requires a password, then you will see a small padlock next to the Wi-Fi symbol, which also means the connection is secure. Tapping on a secured Wi-Fi networks name will prompt you to enter the password. Passwords are always case sensitive. Type it in using the on screen keyboard then tap Connect.
If the Wi-Fi network you are trying to connect to is hidden, then tap the More option which looks like three dots positioned vertically, on the top right corner of the screen, then tap Add network.
Enter the Wi-Fi networks name using the on screen keyboard and tap Save if no password is required to connect. If a password is needed to connect to the Wi-Fi network then tap on Security and select the security type. Type in the password, then tap Save.
At this point your Android device should be connected to Wi-Fi.
As an alternate way you can also try the following method:
Swipe downwards from the top side of the screen.
Look for the Wi-Fi symbol in the drop down menu and tap on the word below it. If you're not connected to any network, it will say Wi-Fi. If you're already connected to a network, it will show its name.
Make sure the Wi-Fi feature is enabled by flipping the On / Off switch to the On position then wait for the network list to populate and tap on the Wi-Fi network that you want to connect to.
13. Clear Application Data
Swipe down from the top edge of your Android device's screen to see the Notification shade.
Swipe down a second time for the full Quick Settings shade. Select the Settings icon near the top right.
Select Apps.
Select the application you are having trouble with.
Tap Stop or Force Stop if available.
Tap Clear Data.
14. Stop Screen Mirroring
Swipe downwards from the top edge of your Android devices screen and tap the Cast symbol.
Tap the X to the right of the connected wireless display to disconnect it.
15. Restart
Hold down the power button on your Android device. Depending on the manufacturer and model of Android device you have, the location of the power button will vary.
A prompt will appear on-screen. Select Restart.
If the menu does not pop up, continue to hold the power button, and your Android device will shut off.
If you had to shut down your Android device, wait 30 seconds before turning your device back on.
16. Connect Wi-Fi
Depending on what device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) and which generation you have, the menu theme and options might look slightly different on your screen. However, the steps should be the same across all iOS devices and generations.
From the main screen of your device, look for and open Settings.
After that, go to Wi-Fi. You will see that this option also shows one of three statuses to the right:
Off - the Wi-Fi feature is disabled
Not Connected - there is no Wi-Fi connection establishe
the Wi-Fi connections name - there is a Wi-Fi connection already established.
Make sure that the Wi-Fi feature is enabled by flipping the On/Off switch to the green position. Locate and tap the Wi-Fi networks name that you wish to connect to from the list.
Your iOS device will automatically connect to the network if there is no security enabled, or you have connected to it in the past. The checkmark and Wi-Fi symbol indicate you are connected.
If the Wi-Fi network requires a password, then you will see a small padlock to the right of its name, which also means the connection is secure.
Tapping on a secured Wi-Fi networks name will prompt you to enter the password. Passwords are always case sensitive. Type it in using the on screen keyboard then tap Join on the bottom right corner. If tapping it does nothing, then it means the password you typed in is too short.
If the Wi-Fi network you are trying to connect to is hidden, then tap the Other... option.
Enter the Wi-Fi networks name using the on screen keyboard and tap Join at the bottom right if no password is required to connect. If a password is needed to connect to the Wi-Fi network then tap on Security.
Choose the type of security the Wi-Fi network has by tapping on it.
Finally, type in the required Wi-Fi password and tap Join at the bottom right corner to connect.
At this point your iOS device should be connected to Wi-Fi.
17. Restart
Hold down the lock/power button.
Slide to power off when prompted.
Wait until the phone is off.
Hold down the lock/power button until you see the Apple logo.
