Sometimes you may experience issues with certain apps on your LeapFrog device. This may be because the app itself is having some sort of issue, or this could be due to your LeapFrog device experiencing problems that are causing the app to misbehave. This guide will take you through common ways to resolve issues with apps on your LeapFrog device.
2. Restart
Hold down the power button on your LeapFrog device.
Hold the power button until a shutdown animation plays on the screen itself. Once complete, your LeapFrog device has shut down.
To power back on, press and hold the power button again until the start up animation plays.
3. Uninstall an App
At the bottom of the LeapPad Welcome screen, tap the icon of parents with a child.
You will be prompted to enter your 4 digit Parent Lock code to access Parent Mode. Enter your code.
This will bring you to the Parent Settings menu.
Tap on Manage Apps.
On the Manage Content screen, expand the Installed menu, scroll down and locate some of the larger sized apps (App size is displayed beneath the app name).
Tap the trash can to delete the app.
Pre-installed system apps cannot be deleted.
4. Re-install an App
At the bottom of the LeapPad Welcome screen, tap the icon of parents with a child.
You will be prompted to enter your 4 digit Parent Lock code to access Parent Mode. Enter your code.
This will bring you to the Parent Controls menu.
Tap on Manage Apps.
Expand the Not Installed drop down, then tap Download next to the app you wish to download.
The app should quickly appear under the Downloads tab along with an indicator showing the download progress, and then move to the Installed tab once installed.
5. Introduction
We must ensure your LeapFrog device has the latest updates that may address bugs or known issues. This will need to be done via the LeapFrog Connect software.
6. Install LeapFrog Connect
Navigate to the LeapFrog website.
Click on Support and then click Download LeapFrog Connect.
Click the Download button of your LeapFrog device from the available list. The software will begin to download.
Open the file that was downloaded to begin setup. Edge / Internet ExplorerClick on Run to start the installer.
Google ChromeClick the file downloaded in the bottom left corner.
Mozilla FirefoxClick Save File, click the Download Arrow, and click the file you downloaded.
Safari (Apple)Click the Download Arrow and select the file to open.
Once the program installer appears, click Next to proceed.
On the following screen, click the radio button to accept the license agreement. Then click Next.
Click Next to proceed.
The program installation has completed. Click Next to complete setup. The newly installed program will appear on-screen.
7. System Update
Connect your LeapPad Ultimate to an available USB port on your computer using the supplied USB cable.
The LeapFrog Connect software will open. You may need to select the device you're working with if you have multiple LeapFrog products associated with this software.
Select Settings in the upper-left corner of the LeapFrog Connect software.
From the Settings window, select your LeapFrog device's tab, and then click the Check for Updates button.
If updates are available, you will be given the opportunity to update. Click Update Now to begin installing available updates.
Your LeapFrog device will begin the update process. A progress bar will indicate how far along it is in the process and an estimated completion time. Do not unplug or interrupt the update process on your tablet. This could render your device completely unusable if the process is interrupted.
Once completed, your LeapFrog device will power down and restart. Once this is complete, the update process has completed. It can now be safely unplugged from your computer.
