Before You Begin:
You must have your ecobee device and your Apple Homekit set up.
2. Review Your Ecobee and HomeKit Network Settings
If your ecobee is paired with HomeKit but isn't responding when you issue a command through the Home app, there are a few things to consider:
If are connecting with an ecobee3, ecobee3 lite, or an ecobee4 and you have a dual-band network, be sure to select the 2.4Ghz network from the list.
Make sure your ecobee and your iPhone are both connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Check Your Network on Your ecobee
From the Home screen, press Menu.
Then select About.
Go to Wi-Fi.
This will show the network information screen. Review your SSID and make sure it matches that of the device you use for your Home app.
Check Your Network on Your Mobile Device
From the main screen of your device, look for and open Settings.
With Settings open, look for the Wi-Fi field. This field will display the current Wi-Fi status on the right hand side:
Off - the Wi-Fi antenna is currently disabled.
Not Connected - Wi-Fi is turned on, but your device is not currently connected to a network.
Wi-Fi network name - Wi-Fi is turned on, and the network name displayed is the network your device is currently connected to.
If connected, make sure your network is the same as the one your ecobee uses.
3. Re-Connect Your Ecobee to the Apple HomeKit
If you have other HomeKit accessories paired, check and see if those accessories are responding to commands through the Home app. If none of your HomeKit-enabled accessories are responding, there may an issue on your network that requires further investigating.
If it’s only the ecobee that isn’t responding, you'll need to reboot and reconnect your ecobee from the Apple Home app.
Disconnect your ecobee from the Apple Home App
From the Home screen, press Menu.
Select Settings.
Go to Reset.
Choose Disconnect From HomeKit.
Reboot Your ecobee
Pull the thermostat from its wall mount.
Keep the thermostat powered off for a minute then put it back on the wall.
Allow the thermostat to complete its boot up process.
Place the ecobee back on the wall after one minute and wait for it to reconnect to Wi-Fi.
Re-pair Your ecobee to Your HomeKit
Re-pair your ecobee either through the Home app or the ecobee app.
Try adjusting the temperature on your ecobee through the Home app to see if it responds.
