  2. Sign in with the same username (usually your e-mail address) and password you used on your Xbox.

  3. With the drive tray still open, unplug the power cable from the wall.
  4. Gently, push the drive tray half-way back in.
  5. Wait 30 seconds.
  6. Plug the power cable back in.

24. Restart

Reboot with the controller

  1. Press the Xbox Guide button on your controller.

25. Download Profile

  1. Go to Social and select Sign In or Out.

  1. Enter the email address and password associated with the Xbox account.

  1. Select the location where you want your profile to be downloaded, hard drive or external storage.

  1. After your Xbox profile was downloaded, you'll be asked if you want the console to remember your password. Only do this if you're the only one using the console. Otherwise anyone who uses your console can sign in as you and use your account information. Select Sign In to finish.

26. Factory Reset

This will remove any and all data and settings from your console, and you will need to re-setup the device, as if you first purchased it.

Format Hard Drive

This clears the data, and makes sure the hard drive in your Xbox 360 is in good health.

The format can take a very long time, depending on the size and speed of your drive, as well as the type of format you choose.

  1. From the Xbox dashboard screen, choose Settings > System.

  1. Highlight your Hard Drive or Memory Unit, then choose Device Options by pushing Y on your controller.

  1. You will receive a warning, reminding you that this erases all data on your device. Choose Yes.
