How to Fix Xfinity xFi Pod Problems

1. Introduction

The Xfinity xFi whole-home mesh network system is a great way to ensure you have Wi-Fi available to every device in every corner of your home. This guide will help when a Pod doesn't seem to be connecting properly, has problems staying connected, or if your connection doesn't seem to extend as far as it should.

2. Reboot Gateway

Do not skip this step!While simple, it's also the single thing that can solve most problems you may have with your mesh networking setup.In many cases, a small power surge or temporary interference can cause a lot of problems, and power cycling allows all your devices to reset and recover from these minor problems.

  1. Unplug any mesh network Pods you may have.

  1. Unplug your Gateway.

  1. Wait one minute.

  1. Plug in your Gateway.

  1. Wait for the light on your Gateway to turn on solid white.

  1. If the light on your router does not go steady white, it's more than likely there's a problem with your Internet service. Contact your Internet Service Provider to make sure there's not an outage in your area, or that there's another problem with your service.
  2. Plug in each of your Pods.

  1. The light on your Pods will turn on solid, then 'breathe', then go out when they are online.

  1. Try your Internet services again, and ensure you are able to get online and use the services you want.

3. Pod Location Check

While your Xfinity Pods are versatile, they do have some physical limitations that are easy to follow.

Distance

Pods should be about one room away, and about 20'-30' feet from your router.

Distance between pods and modem should be 20 to 30 feet.

Spacing Between Devices

Pods should be about half way between your devices and the router.

Pods and Furniture

Pods should not be hidden behind dressers, tables, or other furniture.

Switched Outlets

Pods should not be on an outlet with a switch.

Make sure your Pods are at proper distance, not covered, and not on a switched outlet, you may need to simply move the Pod to another power outlet in the same room. Then, try using your Internet connection again.

4. Reset Check

The next step is to reset the Pod you are having troubles with, and then setting it back up.
