The Video & TV SideView app can be used as a remote control or software keyboard for your Sony Blu-ray Player. You can also view the disc information during disc playback as well. This guide will show you how to install the app onto your mobile device.
Before you begin, ensure your mobile device and blu-ray player are connected to the internet through the same home network.
2. Check Wi-Fi
Depending on what device (Smartphone or Tablet) and which generation you have, the menu theme and options might look slightly different on your screen. However, the steps should be similar across all Android devices and generations.
To Check If Your Android Mobile Device Is Connected to Wi-Fi
Open Settings on your phone or tablet.
Select Wi-Fi.
Make sure Wi-Fi is turned On. The Wi-Fi network that you are connected to will say Connected under its name.
3. Install Android App
Launch the PlayStore app on your Android device.
Search for "av controller" in the search box. Select the AV Controller app from the list of results.
Tap on Install.
Once installed, tap Open to launch the app immediately if you wish.
4. Register Device
Turn your Sony device and your TV set on.
Switch the TV to the external input connected to the Sony device.
Launch the Video & TV SideView app on your mobile device.
If you're running the app for the first time, select your Country/Region and tap on Agree and Start.
Tap on the Menu in the top left corner.
Select Add device.
Your new device should be listed automatically. Tap on it.
The TV screen will show a registration code. Type it into the app when requested.
Once the device is registered, you should get a confirmation screen.
5. Check Wi-Fi
Depending on what device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) and which generation you have, the menu theme and options might look slightly different on your screen. However, the steps should be the same across all iOS devices and generations.
To Check If Your iOS Mobile Device Is Connected to Wi-Fi
From the main screen of your device, look for and open Settings.
With Settings open, look for the Wi-Fi field. This field will display the current Wi-Fi status on the right hand side:
Off - the Wi-Fi antenna is currently disabled.
Not Connected - Wi-Fi is turned on, but your device is not currently connected to a network.
Wi-Fi network name - Wi-Fi is turned on, and the network name displayed is the network your device is currently connected to.
You can also tap on the Wi-Fi field and make sure the Wi-Fi switch is in the On position. The switch should be green in color and will display the network that you are currently connected to directly beneath it with a check mark to the left.
6. Install iOS App
Launch the App Store on your iOS device.
Tap on Search at the bottom of the screen.
Search for "Video & TV SideView" in the search box at the top. Select the app from the list of results.
Tap on Get, then on Install. Once installed, tap Open to launch the app immediately if you wish.
