How to Set Up a LeapFrog LeapPad Ultimate

1. Introduction

The LeapFrog LeapPad Ultimate is a kid-tough and kid-safe tablet designed entirely for kids that includes preloaded content to help kids develop skills in mathematics, reading and science as well as music, puzzles, logic and creativity to prepare kids for preschool and beyond. This guide will take you through basic setup steps to get your new LeapPad Ultimate ready to use.

2. Unbox & Charge

1. Unpack your LeapFrog LeapPad Ultimate. You will find the following items in the box:
2. LeapPad Ultimate tablet with attached stylus.
3. Micro USB A/C charger (not pictured).
4. Additional Micro USB cable for computer connectivity.
5. LeapPad Ultimate printed documentation.
   

1. Plug in your LeapFrog Epic using the supplied Micro USB charger to charge the battery.
   

1. Connect the other end of the charger cable to an available power outlet.
   

3. Power On & Initial Setup

1. To power the unit on, press and hold the Power button until you see the LeapFrog splash screen appear.
   

1. Once powered on, the Initial Setup process will begin.
2. On the Welcome Parents screen, tap Next to proceed.
   

1. Choose your country from the available list. Tap Next to proceed.
   

1. In the list of available networks, click the Wi-Fi network you wish to connect to. To skip this step, tap the Skip button in the lower left corner.
   

1. If your Wi-Fi network requires it, you will be prompted for your Wi-Fi password. Use the on-screen keyboard to enter your password. Tap Join when complete.
   

1. Once successfully connected, your network will have a green circle and star to the left of the name in the available network list. Tap Next to continue.
   

1. Accept the license agreement by tapping Agree.
   

1. At this time, you must either log into an existing LeapFrog account, or select Create a LeapFrog Account if you do not have one.
   

1. Next, you will be asked to create a "Parent Lock" code for your LeapPad device. This is a four digit PIN code that unlocks the device. This prevents children from being able to perform actions without parental consent. Enter your desired Parent Lock Code. Tap Next to continue.
   

1. Next, you will create a child profile. Enter all pertinent information for the child who will be using the LeapPad. Tap Save Child to proceed.
   

1. You will now be presented with a selection of different available apps to load onto your LeapFrog Epic. Tap More Info on an app you wish to learn more about.
   

1. Tap the Select button on the app's information screen to choose to download and install it.
   

1. If you are done selecting apps to install, tap Yes. If there are more apps you wish to add, tap No to be brought back to the list of apps.
   

1. Once all apps have been selected, downloaded and installed, registration will be complete.
   

4. Create Additional Child Profiles

1. Power on the LeapPad.
2. At the bottom of the "Welcome" screen, tap the Parent Child icon.
   

1. You will be prompted to enter your 4 digit Parent Lock code to access Parent Mode. Enter your code.
2. This will bring you to the Parent Settings menu.
3. Tap the "Child Profiles" icon.
   

1. On the Child Profiles screen, tap Create New Profile at the bottom of the screen.
   

You may create a maximum of three player profiles (in addition to the Guest profile) on the LeapPad Ultimate.
