>
Now unplug and unmount the existing camera (if applicable).
3. How to add a ping camera
When choosing the location for your new camera, pick a location close to your Vivint panel. You'll generally want to keep within 200 feet of it. Line of sight is preferable, so try to avoid obstructions if possible.
The supplied AC/DC power supply is approximately 10 feet long. You should place the camera near a power outlet when possible. If there is no outlet nearby, you can purchase a power supply with a longer cable. You will need a power supply rated at 12VDC, 1.5A.
Use the included mounting hardware to install your new camera.
Once you've mounted your Ping camera, plug the AC adapter into the back of the unit and plug your AC adapter into the wall. It will take a few minutes for the camera to boot up.
Go to your Panel and tap the Menu button.
Tap Devices. You may be asked to enter in your PIN to unlock access.
Tap Add new device, then tap Ping Camera.
Follow the prompts that you see on the panel to continue.
4. Test the camera in the panel (SkyControl)
Camera signal strength should be at 70% or greater. Anything below 70% may result in dropouts. To increase signal strength, try removing obstructions. If that isn't possible, then you may have to relocate your camera.
Go to the SkyControl panel and tap the camera icon.
Find your camera in the list and tap the Play button on the thumbnail. You'll then get a live video stream from the camera.
5. How to reset the camera
Resetting your Ping camera to factory defaults takes around three to five minutes to complete. Follow the steps below.
Grip the camera and unplug power from the rear.
Press and hold the top button.
While holding the top button, plug the power back into the camera.
Continue to hold the button for another 20-45 seconds. Let go once the light turns red.
The camera will cycle through a series of lights for around two minutes.
Once the light turns green, the camera will announce that it is ready to re-connect to the Vivint system.
Try setting the camera again as described in the prior steps.
