Getting your Cox email setup in the Outlook program is fast and easy. This guide will walk you through, step by step, adding your Cox account and checking your email for the first time.
Before You Begin:
Have your Cox email address and Cox password.
Cox Mail Settings
If you'd rather set up your mail yourself, these are the settings you will need:
Incoming Mail Server Address imap.cox.net Incoming Mail Server Port 993 SSL Yes Username The first part of your email address. For example, if your email address is joe@cox.net, you would use joe. Password Your Cox password. This is the same password you use to log into cox.net and access your account and billing information.
Outgoing Mail Server Address smtp.cox.netOutgoing Mail Server Port SSL or SSL/TLS Encryption: 465 TLS only or no encryption: 587Authentication Required YesUsername The first part of your email address. 2. Cox Email Setup for Outlook
Open Outlook.
Click the File menu.
Click AddAccount.
Select Manual setupor additional server types and click Next.
Select POP or IMAP. Click Next.
Within POP and IMAP Account Settings, fill out Your Name and full Email Address.
For Server Information, select IMAP for Account Type. Incoming mail server should be set to imap.cox.net, and Outgoing mail server (SMTP) should be set to smtp.cox.net.
Next to Logon Information, fill in your User Name and Password and put a check next to Remember password. Then click the More Settings button.
Go to the Outgoing Server tab. Enable My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and Use the same settings as my incoming mail server.
Go to the Advanced tab. For port settings, set Incoming server (IMAP) to 993 with SSL encryption, then set Outgoing server (SMTP) to 587 with TLS encryption.
