The majority are Plug and Play which means they will be recognized by Windows as soon as you plug them into the tablet and you can use them right away. Others might require software or drivers to be installed on the tablet before plugging them in.

The requirement to install software or drivers varies by manufacturer and device model. Refer to your peripherals documentation to find out if this is necessary.

5. Install Driver

Because the Surface Pro does not have a CD drive, you will need to visit the website of the USB device manufacturer, and download and install the driver from there.

Look at the user manual that came with your USB device. A website should be listed to download the driver.
