Before You Begin:
Streaming video from your computer to another device isn't complicated, but it does require some setup. It's best to be sure this is the best solution for you before moving forward.
Online Streaming Services such as Netflix, Hulu, and YouTube do not need to be streamed through your computer to another smart device. Virtually every smart device, such as your Smart TV, streaming media stick, smartphone, tablet and others has a direct way to access these online services.
If you are watching a program online on your computer, in most cases you can download an app or program on your other device and watch there, directly. No need to setup streaming at all.
Disk-based media, such as DVDs and Blu-ray disks are designed with Digital Rights Management (DRM) that restricts how they are displayed. For the most part, this means you can go from the player (the computer, in this case) to one and only one screen (your computer monitor, in this case) at a time. You will not be able to further stream this video to a television, smartphone, or other device.
For Disk-based media, you will need to use the disk on a player hooked up to the device where you want to watch the movie.
Many disk-based movies and shows come with an online streaming option for mobile phones and tablets. Check the documents included with your disk in the case for any information about those services.
