How to check if there is a firmware update available for your ASUS RP-N12 N300 Range Extender
How to update the firmware of your range extender.
You'll Need:
Your range extender to be already set up and working.
A computer to update the range extender's firmware.
2. Check for Update
Launch the browser that you use to go online.
Navigate to repeater.asus.com and sign in with the administration login credentials of the range extender.
These credentials are different from the Wi-Fi credentials that you use to connect your devices to the range extender's Wi-Fi.
Once signed in, click Administration in the left side menu.
The go to the Firmware Upgrade tab.
Click Check next to the Firmware Version heading to see if there is a firmware update available for your range extender.
3. OS Choice
To continue, we need to know what Operating System your computer is using.
There are 2 main Operating Systems for personal computers currently available, Microsoft Windows and Apple macOS.

4. Download Firmware (Windows)
Launch the browser that you use to go online.
Navigate to www.asus.com/us/Networking/RPN12/HelpDesk_BIOS where you'll find the latest firmware for your range extender.
Under the Firmware heading look for the latest version then click Download to the right.
Once the file is downloaded, click it to open it.
Select the TRX file inside the download, then click Extract at the top.
Then select Extract All.
You'll be asked where you'd like to extract the file. To keep it simple you can leave it to the default location which is where the original file was downloaded. Click Extract at the bottom right.
Make note of the exact location where the file is being extracted, as you will need this information later.
You'll be shown the folder where the file was extracted.
You may want to leave this window open, to easily remind you where you extracted the file.
5. Update Firmware
Launch the browser that you use to go online.
Navigate to repeater.asus.com and sign in with the administration login credentials of the range extender.
These credentials are different from the Wi-Fi credentials that you use to connect your devices to the range extender's Wi-Fi.
Once signed in, click Administration in the left side menu.
Go to the Firmware Upgrade tab.
Click Browse and select the firmware update file you'd like to install.
Click Upload to start the firmware update.
Wait for about three minutes for the update to complete.
6. Download Firmware (macOS)
Launch the browser that you use to go online.
Navigate to www.asus.com/us/Networking/RPN12/HelpDesk_BIOS where you'll find the latest firmware for your range extender.
Under the Firmware heading look for the latest version then click Download to the right.
Safari browser will automatically extract the file for you. Click Show Downloads, then click Show In Finder to the right of the extracted file.
You'll be shown the folder where the file was extracted.
You may want to leave this window open, to easily remind you where you extracted the file.
