6. Program the Lock
You can program the lock either from the device itself or using the Nest app.
From the Lock Itself
The Master Passcode created during the setup is required to create program the door lock.
Touch the Yale logo to wake the keypad.
Enter the Master Passcode and touch the gear wheel.
The lock will talk to you and present the menu options, with each function associated to a number. The functions you'll hear are:
Changing Master Passcode
Changing User Passcode
Advanced Lock Settings with the following sub-functions:
Volume Setting
Language Setting
Master Passcode Only
Enter the digit corresponding to the function you wish to perform and touch the checkmark.
Continue in the same manner to set your preferences for each function you selected.
When presented with the option to repeat a function touch the left arrow, otherwise touch the checkmark to complete the programming.
From the Nest App
Launch the Nest app.
Tap the door lock icon.
Tap the gear wheel in the top right corner.
From here you'll be able to change settings such as:
Automatic Locking
Receiving Notifications
One Touch Locking
Privacy Mode
Sound Volume
Spoken Language
Lock Calibration
Lock Placement
7. Create User Passcode
You can create user passcodes either from the device itself or using the Nest app.
From the Lock Itself
The Master Passcode created during the setup is required to create User Passcodes.
Touch the Yale logo to wake the keypad.
Enter the Master Passcode and touch the gear wheel.
The lock will talk to you and present the menu options.
Touch 2 for the Changing User Passcode function.
Touch 1 for the Change option.
Enter the 4-8 digit passcode and:
Touch the left arrow if you want to create another user passcode
Touch the checkmark if you are done creating user passcodes
From the Nest App
Launch the Nest app.
Tap the door lock icon.
Tap Family & Guests at the bottom of the screen.
Then tap Add a person.
Choose the type of access you want to give them.
Set the passcode and schedule when it can be used. If you wish to email the passcode information to the person it is created for tap Send info, otherwise tap Done.
8. Lock and Unlock
You can lock/unlock the Nest x Yale Lock either from the device itself or using the Nest app. For safety reasons you can only lock or check the status of the door lock with Google Assistant.
From the Lock Itself
To lock or unlock the door from the inside, simply use the thumbturn like on a traditional door lock.
To lock the door from the outside touch the Yale logo or hold your palm on the keypad.
To unlock the door from the outside touch the Yale logo to wake the keypad, enter your passcode and touch the checkmark.
From the Nest App
Launch the Nest app.
Tap the door lock icon.
You will see the status of your door lock.
To lock or unlock the door, touch and hold the padlock icon.
Keep holding until the circle around the padlock is complete and you see the Locking or Unlocking message, otherwise you will cancel the procedure.
You will see the door lock change its status.
Talking to Google Assistant
Examples of what you can say to Google Assistant are:
Hey Google, is the front door locked?
Hey Google, what's the status of the front door?
Hey Google, lock the front door.
Hey Google, make sure my front door is locked.
9. Replace Batteries
Insert a thin, sturdy rod into the top of the lock, such as the special key included with the lock, or a thumbtack.
You will see the 4 AA batteries.
Replace the four AA batteries.
Make sure the batteries are going in the right direction.
