Chromecast is an excellent way to share your movies and music to your television, and it even allows casting by guests, without having to share other information such as your Wi-Fi username and password.
Guest Mode will allow you to share your Chromecast with your houseguests, making it easy for them to share music and video from their phones with everyone, without having to 'setup' anything!
2. Enable Guest Mode
Your phone or tablet needs to be connected to the same network as your Chromecast while you set up.
Open the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet.
Select Devices in the top-right corner.
Select the menu for the Chromecast itself.
Select Guest Mode.
Select the toggle switch to turn Guest Mode On.
3. Using Guest Mode
Open any Chromecast-enabled app and tap the Cast button.
Select Nearby device and follow the prompts to connect.
The device will listen for special nearly-inaudible tones from the television, make the connection automatically, and start casting.
If the connection fails, you'll be prompted to use a PIN instead. Continue below to discover what PIN to use.
Locate PIN
If the connection fails, look on the television screen while the Chromecast shows wallpaper. There will be a 4-digit PIN listed.
If you are unable to locate the PIN on the screen, the owner (or host) of the Chromecast, can use the Home app on their phone to provide it.
Open the Google Home app on your smartphone or tablet.
Select Devices in the top-right corner.
The PIN is found under the device name.
This PIN will change regularly, about every 24 hours, to keep you safe. There is no need to reset it, or write it down; simply look it up each time it is needed.
