Install the App for Your GoPro Fusion Camera

1. Introduction: GoPro: Install GoPro App

With the GoPro app, recorded footage moves to your mobile device and automatically transforms into a QuikStory - an awesome video with effects and music. You can also use the app to control your GoPro, check out your shots and create short clips that you can then share on Instagram, Facebook and more.

The following steps will guide you though the process of installing the GoPro app onto your mobile device.

2. Android: Check Wi-Fi

Depending on what device (Smartphone or Tablet) and which generation you have, the menu theme and options might look slightly different on your screen. However, the steps should be similar across all Android devices and generations.

To check if your Android mobile device is connected to Wi-Fi:

  1. Open Settings on your phone or tablet.

  1. Make sure Wi-Fi is turned On, then select the Wi-Fi network that says Connected under it.

  1. Here, you'll see the basics of your Wi-Fi connection, with the Wi-Fi network name at the top, and other information such as Signal Strength, Link Speed and the Frequency you're connected at and the Security type of the network.

  1. To see more information about your connection, select Cancel.
  2. Select the Settings gear in the top right corner.

  1. Here, you'll see a variety of information related to your connection at the bottom, such as the MAC (Media Access Control) address and IP addresses your Android device has been given.

3. GoPro: Install Android App

  1. Open Play Store.

  1. Type "GoPro" in the search bar and select GoPro (formerly Capture).

  1. Tap Install to start downloading the app.

  1. Once installed, tap Open to proceed to the setup.

4. GoPro Camera: Basic Setup

  1. Locate the Power/Mode button on the side of the camera and press it to turn it on.

  1. On the touchscreen, swipe through the languages and select your preference then tap on the checkmark on the top right corner.

  1. To continue, you have to Agree with the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

  1. Choose whether you want the GPS feature to be turned On or left Off.

  1. Next you'll be presented with a quick Camera Tour. Tap or swipe the screen to proceed through the slideshow.

  1. Once you've completed the Camera Tour you'll need to connect the camera with your smartphone. Tap on Ready to continue.

  1. The camera will show you the Wi-Fi network name and Wi-Fi password you need to use to the connect to it with your smartphone.

  1. On your smartphone, go into Settings, then Wi-Fi. Look for and tap on the Wi-Fi network name indicated on the camera screen.

  1. Type in the Wi-Fi password provided on the camera screen and tap on Join or Connect.

  1. Then go back to main screen and launch the GoPro app.

  1. Tap on Allow to receive notifications.

  1. Read through the QuikStories feature presentation and tap on Got It.

  1. Tap on the camera symbol on the top left corner of the screen.

  1. Then tap on Add Camera.

  1. The Wi-Fi connection to the camera will be replaced by a Bluetooth connection. Tap on Continue.

  1. Then tap on Pair.

  1. Once the Bluetooth pairing is established, your smartphone will reconnect to the default Wi-Fi network and check for software updates. Tap on Update to continue.

  1. Tap on Accept & Continue to agree with the Firmware License.

  1. The smartphone will download the software update. Tap on Continue when it completed.

  1. Then it will transfer the update to the camera. You'll notice the camera reboot a few times.

  1. You'll be notified when the setup is compete. Tap on Done and you're all set.

5. iOS: Check Wi-Fi

Depending on what device (iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch) and which generation you have, the menu theme and options might look slightly different on your screen. However, the steps should be the same across all iOS devices and generations.

To check if your iOS mobile device is connected to Wi-Fi:

  1. From the main screen of your device, look for and open Settings.

  1. With Settings open, look for the Wi-Fi field. This field will display the current Wi-Fi status on the right hand side:
  • Off - the Wi-Fi antenna is currently disabled.
  • Not Connected - Wi-Fi is turned on, but your device is not currently connected to a network.
  • Wi-Fi network name - Wi-Fi is turned on, and the network name displayed is the network your device is currently connected to.

  • You can also tap on the Wi-Fi field and make sure the Wi-Fi switch is in the On position. The switch should be green in color and will display the network that you are currently connected to directly beneath it with a check mark to the left.

  • 6. GoPro: Install iOS App

    1. Open the App Store.
