When trying to join in on a meeting, you may be asking why you suddenly can't connect to get audio with your telephone. It's possible that you've dialed in many times before on your mobile phone or land line, but this time it isn't working. Reviewing some settings in the desktop app, web app, or phone app will often get the problem solved in minutes. Additionally, a meeting organizer can ensure that "Phone mode" is turned on if multiple people are reporting the issue. This guide will go cover everything you need as an attendee or organizer to get connected on GoToMeeting via phone.
2. Ensure the "Phone Mode" Option is Selected
GoToMeeting has a handful of modes you can switch between in the event you are having issues connecting with the current method. If dialing in via phone to your meeting isn't working or GoToMeeting isn't calling you, then "phone mode" may not be enabled.
Connect by Phone via the Desktop App
Click on Settings, then the Phone tab. If Phone isn't available, it is likely that "Phone Mode" has been disabled by the meeting organizer.
Dial in on one of the available phone numbers. When prompted, enter the 9-digit access code, then enter the Audio PIN in order to pair the call to your session.
Connect by Phone via the Web
Click the Settings icon.
Select the Audio tab, then Phone call.
To have the meeting call you, select your country, enter your phone number, then click the CALL ME button.
To dial into the meeting yourself, select your country, then dial into one of the numbers provided. When prompted, enter the 9-digit access code. Enter the Audio PIN in order to pair the call to your session.
Connect by Phone via the iOS or Android App
For best results, use headphones when trying to Phone in through the app.
Tap Options, then select Audio options.
You may tap View all phone numbers to see other numbers available to dial in on.
Tap Auto dial or Switch to a different phone to begin the call. Your phone will automatically dial in the session for you.
3. "Phone Mode" May Not Be Enabled for This Session
The organizer has control over which modes will be available for those dialing in. The reason you can't dial in could be that the meeting organizer has enabled VoIP only in the meeting options.
As an organizer, if you wish to allow other meeting attendees to dial in on phone, you'll want to look over the meeting options and ensure that you see either VoIP and Phone or Phone only.
If it says Custom or VoIP only, tap it and then select one of the Phone modes.
4. If It Still Doesn't Work
If you still can't connect to the session via phone, the issue could be related to your telephone service provider. If you need to get on the meeting right away, try using another phone or switch to Internet audio in the app.
From the app, select Options, then Audio Options.
If you see Switch to Internet audio, tap it to connect audio over the internet.
If you don't see the option, you are already connected to Internet audio and should be ready for your meeting.
