2. Amazon Echo: Previously Connected
Before we begin:
Make sure the device you're trying to connect your Amazon Echo to is turned on, and has enough battery charge.
Bluetooth reaches about 30 feet without any obstruction, and much less if it's trying to go through walls.
Finally, if the device is a phone or tablet, make sure Bluetooth radio is turned on.
3. Bluetooth Device: Proximity Check
It is important to ensure that your Bluetooth devices are within range of the device you wish to connect to before proceeding further.
Bluetooth connection range is often limited to 10 meters or 32 feet.
A distance less than 12 inches can sometimes cause issues.
Physical obstacles, like walls, drastically reduce Bluetooth signal strength and range.
Electronic interference with neighboring radio, microwave, and cellular signals can potentially cause interference issues.
4. Amazon Echo: Reconnect Bluetooth
Say "Alexa, connect" to reconnect your Amazon Echo device to the last device it was connected to with Bluetooth.
5. Amazon Echo: Forget Bluetooth
For Amazon Tap:
Open the Alexa app, go to the menu, and select Settings.
Select your Amazon Tap device.
Select Bluetooth > Clear.
For Echo devices:
Open the Alexa app, go to the menu, and select Settings.
Select your device.
Select Bluetooth.
Select a device from the list, then select Forget. Repeat this step for all other Bluetooth devices on the list.
For Echo devices with a screen:
Say, "Go to settings," or swipe down from the top of the screen and select Settings.
Select Bluetooth.
Select the "info" icon next to the device name, then select Forget Device. Repeat this step for all other Bluetooth devices in the list.
After you clear all devices, restart your Alexa device and your Bluetooth device.
6. Amazon Echo: Pair Bluetooth
To pair the Echo device to a Bluetooth speaker:
Turn on pairing mode on your Bluetooth speaker. Please refer to the Bluetooth speakers user guide for instructions.
Launch the Alexa app on your mobile device.
Tap on the Menu symbol.
Select Settings.
Select your Echo Device.
Then tap on Bluetooth.
Tap on Pair a New Device. Your Echo device enters pairing mode. When your Echo device discovers your Bluetooth speaker, the speaker appears in the list of available devices.
Select your Bluetooth speaker.
Your Echo device pairs with the speaker and Alexa then tells you if the pairing is successful.
