1. SKAGEN1: Basic App Info

Getting Started with the Skagen Falster Smartwatch by Fossil (Gen 1)

 

1) The first thing you must do is ensure your phone is compatible with the smartwatch interface app. If you are using Android, you must have it updated to version 4.4 or later. For iOS devices, you must be running version 9.3 or better.

 

2) Next, you'll want to charge your device. Simply make sure the included charger is plugged into a USB power source, then place it against the back of your smartwatch. Magnets will hold the charger in place against your smartwatch's backplate.

 

3) After you get your smartwatch onto its charger, you'll need to download the interface app which is called Wear OS by Google. To download it, access your device's app store and search for 'Wear OS', then install it.

Using the Wear OS App for Initial Setup  

 

 

1) Launch the Wear OS app and tap the 'Start Setup' button as shown in the screenshot above and follow the prompts. The button may also be labeled as 'Set It Up' depending on what software versions you are running. 

 

2) Follow the on screen instructions on your watch to accept the terms of service and set your preferred language. You will also be instructed to download the Wear OS app, but if you've been following this guide you will already have it installed. In that case, tap the refresh button on your phone.

 

3) Next, follow the on screen instructions on your linked device (phone/tablet) until you see the name of your watch. In this case, the name of your watch should include 'Falster' as shown in the screenshot above. 

 

4) Tap your watch's name.

Final Set Up Steps

 

1) A code will appear on both your watch's screen and the screen of the connected device. If the codes match, the Wear OS app is ready to be paired with your watch. Simply tap 'Pair' to initiate the app pairing process.

 

2) To finalize the app pairing process, follow the on screen instructions.

5. SKAGEN1: Codes No Match

6. SKAGEN1: Can't Find Name

What to Do if the Wear OS App Can't Find Your Watch

 

1) Ensure that you've completed ALL of the initial setup steps on your watch. Your watch's name will not appear in the Wear OS app until you've done so.

 

2) Refresh the Wear OS app on your phone.

 

3) If your watch's name still does not appear on the linked device, you will need to factory reset your smartwatch. Press the middle pusher button on the watch to bring up the display, then again to enter the menu. 

 

4) Scroll until you find 'Settings' and tap it, then tap 'System', then 'Disconnect and Reset'. If you do not see this option, then tap 'Unpair with Phone'.

 

5) Confirm that you wish to unpair your watch and reset to factory settings.
